Me Playing the Bulgarian Kaba Gaida from the Rhodopa Mountains. Not sure what the names of the pieces are but they were taught to me by Mr Todor Kaikov while i was in bulgaria earlier this year.
This is a short 'how to' video that makes learning gajda a simple task. I start with just the bare melody then i add the little 'crossing notes' by dropping down to the 7th (2nd lowest note)and the trills, then i play the whole tune up to speed with thumb pops and a few extras. this is how i learned how to play. This gajda is in the key of A
This is a Bulgarian gaida in G (sol) that i made myself. it took me about 24hrs of work all up to complete, right from drilling the wood, to tying in to the bag. this is the first gaida i have made, and im quite pleased with it.
This is a Bulgarian Djura Gaida (in D) that i finished making over the weekend. the drone, stocks and blowpipe are made from Myall wood (dense Acacia species) and decorated with artificial ebony. The chanter is made from Thozets Box , a type of eucalyptus species, and decorated with cows horn. the reeds are spanish cane. I am planning on making these for sale if anyone is interested.
a few tunes on my gaida. it is usualy in E but the weather is making it muck up at the moment. the playing isnt very good, but you get the idea of what it sounds like.
