This piece is based upon the authentic musical style of the lautari. The Romanian word L?utar denotes a class of traditional music singers. The term is derived from L?ut? the name of a string instrument. L?utari usually sing in bands, called taraf. L?utari are members of a professional clan of Roma musicians, also called ?igani l?utari.
