That's the first chapter of the game: Village of the Doomed. This chapter serves as a nice easy introduction to the game, and sets up the story. Alice must find the Troll Elder and ask him for his help to follow the White Rabbit. On the way, Alice encounters the Gryphon and he is in trapped in the Mad Hatter's laboratory. PS. There is no scenes before and after the boss fight with the Mad Hatter. The scene that the Gryphon is free appear after the Mad Hatter is defeated.
